What are Soft Liners?

A Soft Denture Liner is placed between the surface of your denture and you oral tissues/gums to absorb shock. Soft Liners are made of soft flexible material that is fitted on your dentures and designed to provide comfort and relief. It can be applied to both new and old dentures.

Why do I need Soft Liners?

North Shore Denture Clinic can prescribe you a soft liner to increase comfort and improve denture efficiency. Anatomical irregularities in your mouth prevent a rigid denture from being adequate. Patients with chronically sore gum or flat gum tissues will greatly benefit from a soft liner. Another benefit is it allows easier chewing, as well as a more comfortable fitted denture.

What to expect with Soft Liners?

The cushion should remain soft and comfortable for months. Avoid using rough abrasive or brush when cleaning the liner as this will scar the lining and may even separate it from the denture. Use wet cotton and cold tap water to clean your soft lining, and if possible, rinse your denture with cold water after meals.
